The Locus Scene, are a four-piece rock band from
Sydney, NSW, Australia, who burst onto the
music scene after winning the national
MusicOz Award for Best Rock Artist in 2004.
The Locus Scene formed in early 2003, and draw on a diversity of musical influences to create a mixture of rock, pop, orchestral, electronic & ethnic sounds, along with 3 part vocal harmonies. This amalgamation makes for an innovative listening experience, which has so far impressed industry groups & music fans alike.
The MusicOz Awards, Australias premiere music awards for unsigned and independent artists, were held at WIN Entertainment Centre, hosted by Dylan Lewis, and broadcast to a television audience. The band took out the award for Best Rock Artist, and were presented the award by industry stalwarts, Regurgitator.
Winning the award has seen the band increase their fan base and appeal, with over 160 people turning up to the bands first show of 2005 at the Annandale Hotel.
In a bid to build a live reputation, the band have continued performing to strong crowds throughout Sydney's top venues, including The Annandale Hotel & The Metro Theatre, supporting such distinguished acts as Birds of Tokyo, Swithckicker & Melbourne's Hinge. The group also recently completed a small east coast tour.
The near future looks to be a busy time for The Locus Scene camp, with plans to release their debut album, and a string of accompanying shows to support it...
